In the conflict between Jing-mei and her mother, Jing-mei doesn't want to play the piano. For example, she told her mom that she didnt want to play and that she was never going to be brilliant. This shows that she doesnt really want to play the piano. This also shows that the mom is trying to be demanding to mthe daughter.
